THERMAL BATHS OF POZAR (LOUTRA POZAR)

Only a 100km from Thessaloniki, there’s a village called Loutraki, whose hidden treasures are an exceptional sources of natural mineral water .You can enjoy taking a dive into incredible pocks of hot water, and alongside into the river too ,or to relax in the kind of (by nature) formed baths. There are also a privately owned baths, so that no one disturbs you in those precious moments of relaxing. The area also provides opportunities for long walks into the nature and a very good cuisine, and thats why Pozar is a magnificent destination.


EDESSA WATERFALLS

Enjoy the view of a green setting filled with tall trees and flowerbeds, located at the northeasternmost part of the town. Karanos waterfall measures 70 metres in height and is the biggest one in Greece. Don’t miss a walk behind the huge water curtain, built for enjoying the magnificent views of the running water as well as of the fertile Macedonian plain that lays in front of you. At a lower level you’ll see the entrance to a cave, of great geological value, which is mostly covered by the falling water. Walk down the cobblestoned path where the water hits the rocks creating a double waterfall, known as Lamda falls, which end up in two bluish-green water pools. Finally, don’t miss a visit to the Open Air Water Museum and to the Aquarium.


METEORA

Excursion to ”Meteora”. A place with unique monasteries that were built in the 14th century by ascetics. Meterora look likevertically standing pillars, reaching a height of 600 m. The creation of these rocks dates back over 60 million years ago. Then this area was filled with prehistoric sea and during prolonged exposure to wind andwater these bizarre forms were created.


PETRALONA CAVE

Petralona cave is situated about 1km east from the village of Petralona and 50km southeast of the city of Thessaloniki.The cave was discovered in 1959. It is proved that the scull of the prehistorical man that was found there , was about 700.000 years old , which means that is an oldest in European continent. Today, visitor can admire the impressive stalactites and stalagmites in the cave’s interior.


OLYMPUS AND DION

Mount Olympos is the highest mountain in Greece, known world-wide mostly because, according to mythology and ancient Greeks , it is the residing place of 12 Olympian Goods. Every year thousands of the nature-lovers visit Olympos , so they can admire the charm of its surroundings, enjoy tours on the hillsides and in conquest of its peaks. Dion is a small village with huge historical significance, build in the valley of Mount Olympos The name of the village comes from word Dias (Zeus). The archeological findings lay in Dion museum, which exists from 1983. So, if you find yourselve at Mount Olympos , you shouldn’t miss the opportunity to visit Dion and spend a day admiaring the acheevements of Ancient Macedonians.


THE TOMB OF SAINT PAISIOS

The tomb itselfe, is a place of pilgrimage for the thousands of belivers , paying their respects to this contemporary saint. People from every part of the country and from abroad as well, are coming at his place of rest. Saint Paisios passed away on 12 july 1994 and was burried by the church of Saint Arsenio. MOUNT ATHOS
